Another great Jesse Stone novel. Same old Parker, but he somehow makes Stone seem more real, more flawed, than Spenser. Where Spenser has become somewhat of a charicature, Stone remains believable and likable despite his shortcomings.

Like the fact you can always picture in your mind Tom Selleck as Jesse Stone--love the characters, stories sometimes sensitive material but easy to read and like the banter between Jesse and his cops.

Terrific dialogue. Parker writes it as well as anyone.

Loved it! Very quick read and it keeps you guessing right to the very end! Very clever... typical Robert Parker!

An enjoyable,quick read although the characters seem a little far-fetched. A troubling twist at the end.

Parker's new character, Jesse Stone, has brought new life to, IMHO, a sagging author. Personally, I think Parker has been sick to death of Spencer for, oh, the last 15 or so Spencer novels. That doesn't mean I don't read every one of them, it's just that they get so darn repetitive. Anyway, Stone gives Parker new life, and it seems he is excited to be writing about a new character. Parker's wit is there as always, which is what makes Parker so much fun to read. Stone offers the opportunity for different plot lines, and the ancillary characters are delightful. I recommend you read the Stone series from the beginning, Night Passage. It all makes more sense that way.
Jesse is just so cool and layed/laid? back. I love the way he takes down the big mouth with the big body -- just like that. I'm not thrilled with the turn his love life is taking but probably just jealous. Once you've seen Tom Selleck play him on TV, well what can I say -- hunka hunka! I really enjoy a writer that keeps his characters through more than one book. This one if very good. I enjoyed it.

This was another good entry in the Jesse Stone series although the subject matter at times was a little hard to take. It starts out with a woman's decomposed body washing up in the Paradise harbor during race week. A lot of out-of-state yachts are in town for a yearly festival of boat racing and other hijinks. After Stone identifies the woman, a sex tape turns up with her in a graphic ménage à trois. This in turn leads to some other very unsavory activity on two of the yachts anchored in the harbor and with Stone trying to prove the owners of the yacht were involved in the death of the woman who was found in the harbor. But did they really kill her or are they just trying to cover up all the sex games that happen on their boats? There is an unexpected twist to the killing towards the end of the novel.
And along the way, Stone is trying to reconcile with his ex-wife, Jenn, and has been sober for almost a year. But will he be able to stay sober and finally get back together with Jenn? I guess I will need to finish reading this series to find out!
