I really loved this book. It is a tear jerker. It is about a couple who go through the loss of a child. As I read this book, I felt as if I was sharing in their grief, particurally the mothers grief. Each character is coping in their own way. I cried at 3 different points in this book. I have never had a loss like this, but it happens, and even though this was a novel, it felt very real. Even though it is sad, the story ends the way that you want it to.

I had never read anything by this author and picked this book up to read only because the two characters were Samuel and Ann (my husband's and my names). Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and am looking forward to reading more of what this author has written!

Beautiful story that truly captures the struggles between a husband and a wife in real-life situations.

I love the "realness" of Nichol's characters in this book. They are imperfect people who find grace and mercy in Christ through a series of difficult circumstances. The Lord really used it in my life at the time I read it. Not fluffy Christian reading which I really appreciated!

This is the best book I've read lately. I loved the setting, which was mostly in Western NC/East Tennessee. The characters were so well developed that I felt very close to each one.
This is a wonderful book. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Covers the emotional range, with hope shining all the way through.

This is the first book I had ever read by this author. I loved it and will definitely look for more by her. Her characters are very "real" and experience a broad range of emotions that ordinary people like me can relate to. It was a very moving book.

Life is rewarding for Samuel Truelove. Hes a gifted heart surgeon, hes married to the love of his life, and he has a beautiful daughter. But when he mis-diagnoses his daughters illness and is suddenly called away to perform emergency surgery, a deadly cascade of events is set in motion. After multiple tragedies, Sam withdraws into himself, takes a leave of absence, and joins a small town clinic. His search for redemption and healing will test the idea that God has the power--and the will--to repair what seems irreparably broken. From the bestselling author of "If I Gained the World."
