"The Scent of Cherry Blossoms" by Cindy Woodsmall- book review

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Cindy Woodsmall has released a new Amish romance novel. In this sweet book, Annie and Aden renew their friendship when Annie visits her grandfather and helps Aden at the family diner while his brother, Roman, travels to help his uncle with a generator problem. All seems well, and the romance is budding, like the cherry blossoms in her grandfathers fields, but there is an underlying problem. Annie is from Mennonite and Aden is Amish. While these sects seem to be closely aligned, they both hold closely to their belief and do not want to mix and mingle, especially in the possibility of marriage.

Both Aden and Annie know this, but cannot deny the feelings they share toward each other. And there are huge consequences on both sides of the fence if they pursue their relationship.

Easy to read. Cute hardbound book, with pink binding. Perfect Valentine's Day gift for your sweetheart.

Nice story about a forbidden romance between different denomination couple. Already committed to God, can they still have a life together with God's blessing? Could have been a much longer full of other surprises, but a great little read.

Annie, an Old Order Mennonite of 19 years of age, has been having issues with her Mamm, who wants her to date boys. In having issues with her mom, she is sent to her grandfather's home. There, Aeden who has a stutter and a wheelchair bound twin brother, is a hard working Amish man of 22 years of age. Annie has been working at Aeden's family's diner while visiting, in which her grandfather has been helping out with. The problem is that a Mennonite girl has no place in an Amish boy's heart, for that would be wrong since they both have made their vows as members of the church.

This book is filled with drama and heartaches and frustrations and I cried so much while reading the last fifty pages (my husband was in shock because I never cry after reading a book, and he sees me read a couple books a week). It was so good! My one issue was that the main character's name is Annie and her love interest's last name is Zook. . .like the Annie's People series by Beverly Lewis. . .unless it was an homage to it, but thankfully the story was different. I liked this!!

A forbidden romance always makes for a great book. Instant tension, the reader wants to see this couple beat the odds and come together. Surely nothing can stop them, and yet something almost always does. It is what makes the book stronger and the reader more invested. Fall in love with the characters and you want to see their happily ever after.

If youre a long-time reader of Amish fiction, you know how important their faith is to them. To step out of the bounds of that faith leads to ultimate ex-communication and damaged relationships. And when an Old Order Mennonite woman and an Old Order Amish man fall in loveeverything is going against them.

My only complaint about this novella? I wanted it to be longer. I wanted to spend an entire book watching the love story of Annie and Aden continue to grow and blossom (pun intended) and surmount the inconceivable.

Dont take me wrong, the book was wonderful and complete unto itself, I just loved the plot so much and wanted to know more.

A completely charming read, one I read in one sitting with a sweet couple and a wonderful subplot addition with secondary characters. Itd be great if they got their own story too. Cover to ending: completely lovely!

This review is my honest opinion. I was not obligated to review this novella.
