Takes place in old western times... cowboys and Indians kind of thing. A ten-year-old girl, Mischa (the main character) is traveling in a wagon with her father and brother headed for Wyoming. On the way they are swarmed by Indians, her father is killed and Mischa is kidnapped. Mischa grows up, living amongst Indians, wholly accepting her fate. She by chance runs into the chief to a neighboring tribe, they fall in love etc, etc. Meanwhile her brother has been searching for her for years, going slightly nuts in the process.
I was very unimpressed with this book because the story line was pretty weak. With most novels you have a main plot, something that the entire book is leading up to... with this one there's a bunch of stuff going on. There's one problem after another, but the writing is very narrow; each problem being solved within just a few pages. It focuses more on Mischa's love for her Indian chief and at times gets pretty corny. I stopped several times throughout the book thinking, "What grown woman or man would act like that???" The main characters reminded me of two love-sick 12 year-old children and not grown adults. If you are looking for just a straight romance without much to it... this is your book.
