Cute feel-good story for Christmas. Ivy, a recently divorced young woman, buys an old farmhouse sight unseen in a small town. Once there, she realizes it needs a lot of "love" (aka work). Her realtor, Ezra, is more than willing to help out. Ivy discovers small town friendliness and soon makes new friends and more.
A short & sweet cheesy Christmas Hallmark movie novel.
Another fun read by Mary Kay Andrews! It was so exciting to meet her the other night, too! Newly divorced woman buys an old farm house in the middle of nowhere and just wants to escape life. No can do in this cute little town! The real estate agent is a hunk, the people in the town latch onto her, and as much as she is trying to avoid Christmas, her new house was the Christmas house in the town where Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus had lived for many years, bringing joy to all the townspeople. In typical Mary Kay fashion, there is a mystery to be solved. You may have heard me scream "OH My God" this afternoon!
The whimsical cover of The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews led me to believe this would be a humorous farce, but instead it's full of heart and soul - a wonderful surprise!
Plot summary: To create the next chapter of her post-divorce life, Ivy buys a 100-year-old farmhouse (sight unseen) in a rural North Carolina town. The discovery of a child's letter in an abandoned Santa costume leads Ivy to create connections with several townspeople.
Because I'm a marketer, I especially enjoyed the revitalization of a family candy company through better marketing strategies.
I didn't mind that the plot relies on a nearly unbelievable number of coincidences. The relationships, romantic as well as familial, warmed my heart and made me smile - two important must-haves in a successful Christmas novel.
