I love all these characters!! When Mary & Carol get together on a book it is always a fun read. This is their latest and it is good. Combines Nora & Luke Reilly, Reagen & Jack Reilly, and Alvirah & Willie. Alvirah and Willie have won a wonderful four day cruise in the Carribean and invite the rest of the crew to join them. It sets sail a couple of days after Christmas, and since noone has any special plans until the New Year they all decide to go. A calm, restful break from the hectic Christmas season this is not! There is way more going on with this cruise than meets the eye, and of course the lot of them get caught up in trying to piece together all the puzzles and solve the mysteries. A great read!

"Santa Cruise" is the third Alvirah Meehan/Regan Reilly Christmas mystery written by the mother and daughter team of Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark. Randolph Weed owns the cruise ship, The Royal Mermaid, and the maiden voyage is one that is free to guests who have done much good in the line of charity work. Alvirah Meehan wins a free cruise with her husband, Willy, and invites Jack and Regan Reilly and Nora and Luke Reilly to join them on the cruise. Eric, Weed's nephew, is hiding out 2 fugitives who are going to an island where there is no extradition to the US. One of the fugitives, a mobster named Tony Pinto, looks like the boxer turned mystery writer Left Hook Louie, and 2 women think they have seen the writer's ghost. Alvirah steals the show as she attempts to nab the suspects. There is too much coincidence in the book and Regan does very little in the way of detection for a private investigator. It is not the best of books for either author, but can provide a few hours of light entertainment if you have nothing better to do. Mary Higgins Clark is a fine mystery writer and her full length novels are excellent.

I have read all of Mary Higgins Clark's books and some of Carol Higgins Clark's books. It seems to me that Mary Higgins Clark can still spin a tale, but her stories have lost their edge. There is not much mystery to this story. It is a fun, easy read though.

Mary Higgens Clark brings back Alvirah Meehan in this fun story.

A cruise dedicated to those who give to charity or do good works. Yet, nothing seems to go right on this cruise. Alvirah and friends find a mystery...can they solve it in time?

I LOVE Mary Higgins Clark, have all of her books, but have only read one other by Carol Higgins Clark and I wasn't too impressed. This book does bring back some characters from MHC's and I guess CHC's previous books, but you don't get a real feel for the characters from this book alone. There were a few cute mishaps occurring, but it was a quick read, and I found it boring and hard to get through.

Kind of boring. Not a whole lot of mystery to it.

A delightful, Christmas-themed mystery. Enjoy this one, and pass it on!

An easy, quick read, unlike the authors' usual books, this is a murder mystery that takes place on a Christmas cruise. Even though, it might be described as "light" reading, it was enjoyable and a deep enough mystery to keep your attention until the end.

Not the best read but it was good for Christmas time as it was easy to put down and pick back up without losing anything. Quick read for the busy holiday season, nothing earth shattering though.
