My first thought when I finished this book was, "Wow! That was awesome!". My next thought was, "Damn, there better be another book". (And there is, yay!)

The first line definitely gets your attention and it didn't let go from there. There was a small part where you got some character backstory that went a little slow but not enough to lose the momentum. The suspense part of the story wasn't that involved and I figured out at least one of the "bad guys" fairly soon. However, it was enough intrigue to keep me interested.

What really drives this story is the romance between Samson and Delilah. My favorite part of the book was the main love scene between them. I think the author did a fantastic job on this part. The actual sex scene flowed well. The scene was actually fairly long but it wasn't all about the sex. It was intimate, emotional, and even playful at times. It really helped to create the connection between them.

The attraction between Samson and Delilah grows as they try to figure out the mystery behind who is after Delilah. Samson is worried about how Delilah will react to his being a vampire. He knows she is the one he is meant to be with, he feels their connection and senses her pain from a past secret regret. He just needs to convince Delilah they were meant to be together.

This book is an erotic paranormal romance so there is explicit and graphic sex. There is one short scene between some secondary characters that includes rear-door activity, but other than that it is straight-forward m/f romance. For an erotic romance there was a very good balance between sex and story. I definitely recommend this one to lovers of vampire romance. The next book in this series is Amaury's Hellion.

Samsom is THE Alpha male and I love him all the more for it. Vamps finding their lifemates have never been as entertaining as they are in this Scanguard Vampire series. For the paranormal/erotic fan this is so hot you are gonna be begging to get bit!

You dont meet a lot of heroes with erectile dysfunction Samson should be a happy vampire: hes got close friends, a skillion dollars, and a successful company. But he still seems to being striking out on the life, love, and pursuit of happiness thing. And theres his 237th birthday coming up and his buddies are going to throw him a surprise party complete with a stripper who does extras. Sigh. So he really isnt surprised when a strange woman bangs on his door and begs for help

Delilah barely escapes a thug who then pursues her down the deserted, rain-slicked streets of San Francisco. Seeing a lighted window she pounds on the door which is jerked open by a very large and apparently not very happy homeowner. But he pulls her inside and offers her a place by the fire as she jerks out her story.

So, the stripper was taking the damsel in distress approach. Unusual but very nice. And the rain-soaked clothes make it clear that the mortal is very nicely put together. One kiss proves that shes just what the doctor ordered

OK, sexually aggressive homeowner versus street thug not a good choice even if he was the best kisser in the world. One high heel equipped stomp and slap later theyre glaring at each other. Delilah thinks the night cant get any worse and then he makes it clear he thinks shes a stripper.

Shocked when he finds that she really was a damsel in distress and even more horrified by his own misguided behavior he apologizes profusely and offers dry clothes and a ride home with his chauffeur. His friends confirm that it had been a case of mistaken identity [they brought the stripper with them] so she accepts.

After her departure, Samson takes the stripper upstairs planning to give his newly cured body some long denied release. Unfortunately his body knew what it wanted and it had just walked out the door.

The story continues with a fair amount of action, both in and out of the bedroom. Samson pursues Delilah [the whole Samson and Delilah thing? Smirk.] Past and present betrayals surface but everyone gets by with a little help from their friends. And Samson? Lets just say he doesnt need a shrink anymore.

Scanguards Vampires Series:
Book 1: Samsons Lovely Mortal
Book 2: Amaurys Hellion
Book 3: Gabriels Mate
Book 4: Yvettes Haven [published 5/2011]

Wow! First I need to say that the two books I read previous to this were cozies. So when I opened the book and the first line was a rather graphic request, I needed to do a double take. This is an erotic paranormal that grabs you and doesn't let go. I am glad there was a good storyline and not just sex. I learned more about depreciation than I ever wanted to know! Also didn't think about vampires needing therapy. Quick, sexy read. 4 stars

A love story of Samson and Delilah. I know, it sounds corny, but it works.

Samson believes the woman in distress that shows up on his doorstep is his surprise birthday gift stripper from his friends. This case of mistaken identity leads to a passion that cant be denied, secrets revealed and deception from unexpected sources. An original storyline that includes a powerful vampire with ED and several vampires who visit a psychiatrist on a regular basis. If the opening sentence of this novel doesnt grab your attention, then someone needs to check your pulse STAT! Oh, and yeah, its a dead giveaway of more to come..

Although the plotline was thin and I could see where the story was going, it was fun getting there. Samson was a bit over-the-top at times and it took Delilah F-O-R-E-V-E-R to grow a backbone. The cast of characters are intriguing and the humor sprinkled throughout the story didnt detract from it. I sure would like to be a fly on the wall when Amaury has his sessions with Dr. Drake. *giggle* (Sorry, Girls, I keep thinking of Rick Springfield!) Ms. Folsom puts a different spin on her vampire lore; its a breath of fresh air.

Loved this book! Different twist on the typical vampire story line. An age old vamp with erectile dysfunction...how funny! And he's a hot one to boot:) Great read and wonderful interaction between the two main characters. Can't wait to read the next one in the series.
