Just love this book.I love all her books.That Eve Dallas is something else she is one bad ass.Roarke is one sexy man.Eve and Roarke are great together.If you haven't read any of these books you are missing out.

Another excellent book. The relationships in these books are one of their big attractions, you feel like you know these people and like them. Of course the mystery is always pretty good also.

If you're like me and you've read all of these Eve Dallas books, you're probably not going to stop after 27. If you haven't read them yet, you can read them out of order and not miss much. It's gotten so that lately there are really no chances taken with the main or supporting characters. Nothing advances in the ongoing stories or relationships (the ME has a girlfriend - zzzz). Too many of the secondary personalities are living happy little lives now and there isn't any conflict or interest there. If Nora really wants to energize this series, she'll introduce some new characters or have something major happen in the lives of the ones she has. Personally, I'd like to see Eve and Roarke get custody of a kid. That said, as always, this was a fun and easy read.
Haven't had time to read this yet - still have most of the series to go thru first! And in this case it does help to have read at least the previous book at a minimum. But if it's anything like the ones that I _have_ read, it'll be great.
Eve is back and sassy as ever. I love how she seems more comfortable with the love she and Roarke share for each other. They treat it like the special thing it is. The excerpt from Promises in Death is heart-wrenching all by itself... can't wait to read that one!

With a name like [book:Salvation in Death|2494204], I should have known it was gonna be overly religious. I learned a whole lotta stuff about the Catholic religion that I could have lived without. LOL. The whole chapter on Jimmy Jay really irritated me but him and his situation were another rung on Eve Dallas's ladder in solving the main mystery of Father Flores's death. As usual, the solution to the mystery is hidden many times over. It is wonderful to watch Eve unravel the threads and get the criminal (who is usually someone totally unexpected) in her sights. Masterfully written and there is no better detective team than Eve and Peabody. I love her support team too McNab, Dr. Mira and of course, Roarke!
This book threw me off a bit... Eve wasn't the same Eve; that said, I think she has matured: she didn't throw herself into a case and allow herself to suffer at the hands of the case. Another "twist" in this book, is that there wasn't any real flashback to her past or Roarke's past. It was kind of refreshing. As much as I love each and every single book in this series (and won't trade them...sorry... love them too much), this one just felt different. It was a mature kind of different; it wasn't the template that some of the ones before had felt like they had been molded into. I kinda missed the old, bossy, take no crap, Eve but I guess we all have to grow up eventually. I mean, she was actually NICE to Peabody and almost nice to Summerset! :)
The thing I DIDN'T like was the lack of our old friends; many of the characters took a back seat, if they were in the book at all. In all fairness, each was "there" but it really lacked the different interactions that we are all so used to and Charles/Louise were only mentioned, not even seen. Lastly, the romantic scenes were NOT up to par of Roarke and Eve. It was a little disappointing when I was looking to catch up with her hottie husband! :)
All in all, it just felt flat. If you are a faithful fan, you will still love the book. If you haven't read any in this series, don't start here. Go back to the beginning: Naked In Death...

It almost goes without saying that an Eve Dallas mystery will be full of suspense, thrills, great romance and sex, and wonderful character development. While this does not disappoint, I did feel a little less connected in this book than I have in previous installments. I wanted a little more background revelation for Rourke and Eve, and those have been dished out in little tantalizing pieces every other book or so. In this volume a priest is poisoned in front of his congregation when he drinks the sacramental wine during the mass, and the investigation reveals that he is not a priest after all. His past is a very tangled web that Dallas struggles to unravel, and then an evangelist is killed in the same manner. The convolutions in the story were a little difficult to follow at times, but she manages a very satisfying wrap-up in the end. I must admit that though I enjoyed this as I always do a Dallas mystery, I was more excited to read the excerpt for the next book in the series, where Morris's girlfriend is the victim, and I am eagerly awaiting the next paperback release.
Very good book. This one deals with a subject that is much talked about today; identity theft. Figuring out who is who and what is what causes Eve and Roarke to spend a lot of time untangling the twists and turns in this case. One of the author's best.
This story focused a little more on the murders and less on the personal lives of the characters but I didn't mind that. I always enjoy seeing how Eve's mind works and watching her dive into a complex case. She looks at the world differently to most people and puts together clues that most people don't even notice. Peabody has come a long way in her training but it's obvious there's still a lot more that she can learn from her partner. I'm totally invested in this world and the characters now, I love the glimpses we get of people like Mavis and Mira but more than anything I'm 100% here for every single interaction between Eve and Roarke. They're definitely a power couple and I love spending time with them both!
Lt. Eve Dallas and Detective Delia Peabody are investigating the death of Father Miguel Flores who collapsed in the middle of a funeral service. The autopsy shows he died from poison in his communion wine. The autopsy also shows that the priest had a gang tattoo removed and surgery to change his face. The tattoo was from a NYC gang that was prevalent fifteen years ago. As Eve and Peabody work to discover the identity of the priest, a second person dies from poison...this one a TV Evangelist. Is it a coincidence or is there a serial killer?
After 27 books, the series is still going strong. The story started out a little slow but picked up its pace by the middle of the book. Most of the usual cast of characters makes an appearance in this one, along with a bevy of suspects and eyewitnesses. My rating: 4 Stars.

Great book as usual!
For those J.D. Robb readers, here you go another page turner from her. It amazes me how she can continue to write this stories and keep the readers attention. I've read enough "Dallas" books for Eve to become a member of my family. Always got to keep up with her and Rourke, and the mysteries they set out to solve.
Was a very good book. Something a little different in the way you see Eve's life. Not the page turner of some of the books in this series......but maybe you get to see why Eve does the things she does and acts the way she does with this one.
As always, J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts) has the reader at the edge of their seat and laughing also. The suspense and puzzle of "who done it" is excellent. A terrific read for those who like action.

What starts out as a routine investigation into the murder of a neighborhood priest during a funeral mass turns into a case of identity theft, greed and retribution and linking to multiple unsolved murders seventeen years prior. Eve tackles this case with the same tenacity and determination she gives to every case. As more layers are revealed, the more complex this case becomes.
When a televangelist is murdered the same way during a sermon, I immediately thought Eve would be tracking a serial killer targeting religious leaders. When the second murder is solved fairly quickly, I realized that the murders are not connected, other than cause of death.
Not a lot of sparring with Somerset in this story, unfortunately. I am looking forward to Eve losing her mind over hosting Louise's bridal shower. She would much rather get into fights with criminals than come within a hundred miles of giggling women. I can't wait to see how it plays out.

I love powerful Eve Dallas and how the complex New York crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30 stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York is like this, I fear these killers who are sneaky and complex.
Love every single book in this series and this was no exception.

I enjoy every book that has Roarke and Eve as the characters. I will never get tired of reading J.D. Robb.
The only problem I had with this book...it went too fast. Just like all of the other ones. I wish she could come up with one story that is very very long.
