It is just magical when you pick up a book on a whim, drawn by the cover and/or the premise, and it turns out to truly knock your socks off. This is that kind of book.
The heroine is just tough and plucky enough to be identifiable and likeable, the hero is manly but not so macho-ly so that he is annoying. The book is written in first person from the heroines point of view, and her subtle, dark humor kept me giggling. In fact there are scenes that I think back on and still giggle.
I am a huge fan of paranormal romances and have read oh so many of them. This one is certainly up there with the best. It is a great, fun read.
I hope the authors continue to share their talent with more stories.

Overall: Really liked this one - I had a hard time putting it down and it was a fast read. It has a bit of a quest in different dimensions in it which is something I like reading (looks like the authors enjoy researching magic and superstition), and the romance was sweet - good friends becoming more. The voice is different so do go read the excerpt before you buy. This isn't a standalone, it's the beginning of a series, but I think that other books may focus on other characters in this world if I read the authors comment's on it right, so you can probably treat this as almost a standalone. The ending is in a good, satisfying place and I'm definitely putting whatever else Anna Katherine writes on my wish list.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read it in one sitting and am sure I will reread it again.
This book has a bit of everything -- myth, religious lore, magic, adventure, struggle, and love. The characters engaged me from the start. There's chemistry between Ryan and Allie that keeps them real. The setting descriptions balanced the action without slowing the story down. It was a well paced and fun, first person point of view, ride. I love first person because it really pulls you into the story but I also know it is a challenging way to write and maintain the tension needed for a good story. Anna Katherine (a pseudonym for two friends) manages this well in this debut novel. I look forward to other books by this duo.

I liked the idea of the book, but it was a little hard to get into, and somethings were not explained that well. Like the monsters, some magical objects, and the different hunters. Actually, most of the characters weren't developed that well. And the main character is really a cry baby and her friends are really snotty, shallow, rich snobs. Not the best book I've read, but definitely not the worst.
