This is a specialized book in cultural anthropology. I was specifically interested in the book because first, I went to high school with the author (a very long time ago) and she was the editor of the school paper when I was a reporter. So it was interesting to see that she has come a very long way in life, and her book is very readable, even though it is a research study. The second reason I was interested in it is that my in-laws are from that area in Ireland and the book has helped me understand their distinct personality quirks, which have developed from the culture their parents grew up in. So, though the subject may not interest the general public, the book is a very engaging "read."
