OMG where has this book been that I haven't found it sooner. I loved it. If someone wasn't waiting for it, I think I'd read it again. This is such a beautifully written novel. About a young girl who drowns in a river that is protected by the government to keep it natural. She is caught under the water and to remove her, the river will have to be disturbed. There is her family who naturally want her body back and then there are those who do not want the river disturbed and they say "if she is in the river then that is the way it is, and to leave her there". I read the whole book in one night. I just could not put it down. Beautiful... stick in your mind... story.

Amazing...this book will stay with you long after you read it. A young girl drowns in the Tamassee River and her body is trapped in an eddy. Because this river is considered a Wild and Scenic river, certain laws prevent anyone from retrieving her body. The fight between environmentalists and her parents is heartbreaking. Highly recommended.

This was a great read about a woman returning to her hometown to photograph a story involving the drowning of a young girl, and the demons of the past that she encounters. It covered many topics including environmentalism, loss and regret. The only complaint I have is that it ended sort of suddenly for me, but otherwise an engaging story that kept me turning pages.

Another beautifully written Southern novel that you'll want to savor. I really loved One Foot in Eden by this author and I thought this one was just as moving.

Wonderfully written and thought provoking book. Made me wonder what side I would be on and how I could live with the decision I made. Highly recommend this second novel from a very talented author.
