2nd book in Faye Kellerman's series does not disappoint. Love the rising tension between Decker and Rina and the unfolding relationship he has with her sons. The case itself is thick with twists and turns. Highly recommend.

Faye Kellerman manages to combine a solid police mystery with the conflict of two people who love each other, but have very different religious beliefs.

I liked the first book of the series better than this one, but the other books that I have read in the series so far have been pretty good. I can't wait to see what happens next!

This is the second of the Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus novels. You find out more about their developing relationship along with a gruesome double murder that Detective Decker is trying to solve. Truely a riveting story with very good character development, Faye Kellerman has become a favorite author of mine. Her books are ones you don't want to put down!!

I'm not usually a reader of detective stories, but between the romance between Decker & Rina and the elements of orthodox Judaism, this series has won me over. For these reasons, I was glad I read this book. However, I don't think I'd want to read it again. Romance and Faith did not play as big a role in this the second book of the series as it did in the first. Also, the crimes were particularly disturbing.

This is the second book in the Decker and Lazarus series. This time around as Peter Decker is trying to become closer to Rina Lazarus and her sons. He takes the two young boys camping in the hills where they stumble onto two burned skeletons. The case hits close to home when the two victims turn out to teenage girls. Peter is especially drawn into the case as a father of a sixteen year old girl himself.
Another good solid mystery and the more Peter is drawn to Rina the deeper he and the reader are drawn into her world as an orthodox jew.

LAPD Detective Peter Decker has grown very close to Rina's young sons, Sammy and Jake, as he had to their mother, and he looked forward to spending a day of his vacation camping with the boys. Then Sammy stumbles upon a gruesome sight. Two human skeletons, cgarred beyond recognition, are identified by a forensic dentist as teenage girls - and for Decker, the father of a 16 year-old daughter, the vacation is over.

From the book cover, "Los Angeles Police Detective Peter Decker had grown very close to Rina's young sons, Sammy and Jake, as he had to their mother, and he looked forward to spending a day of his vacation camping with the boys. A nice repreive from the grueling work of a homicide cop - until Sammy stumbles upon a gruesome sight...

Two human skeletons, charred beyond recognition, are identified by a forensic dentist as teenage girls - and of Decker, the father of a sixteen-year-old daughter, vacation time is over. Throwing himself professionally and emotionally into the murder case, he launches a very personal investigation: a quest that pulls him deep into the crack dens of Hollywood Boulevard and painfully close to the children of the streets and a nightmare world he must make his own."
