I bought this book on the strength of its opening paragraph, and I have never been so moved by the absolute TRUTHFULNESS of an author's voice and tone. David Hill is a white man who writes the character of black women with such accuracy and respect and honesty as to be astonishing. I brought this book with me on vacation, expecting to enjoy it all week, and finished it in one day, ignoring my family, the scenery and everything else around me, and then I wept, sighed the contented sigh of one who has been completely and wonderfully nourished, then I read it again! Read this book, you will love it; David Hill is a master.
