Great debut novel; not quite a cozy because of language, but a super amateur sleuth. The title is great on multiple levels; some social commentary if you care to look for it. I'm looking forward to more from Karen Olson.

A Yale student is murdered - and then another. Crime reporter Annie Seymour is soon deep in investigative mode, and the writing and plotting are entertaining and imaginative.

Excellent first novel with interesting characters! It started out a little slowly for me, or else I was distracted by something else, because I began reading this 2 months ago and didn't pick it up again till early this morning, and only because it was the nearest book to hand when I didn't want to leave my warm bed. Surprise, surprise, I couldn't put it down (except for breakfast) till I finished it around 4 hours later. Annie Seymour is a crime beat reporter with a cop for a boyfriend, and they often clash during investigations. The apparent suicide of a female Yale student quickly turns into something more when Annie discovers she was a high-priced escort by night. Things become worse when it looks like a city official, Annie's mother, and Annie's boss are involved as well, and to top it all off, her mother's sexy private investigator (a former geek classmate from her high school) seems to reciprocate Annie's reluctant attraction. The artsy fiberglass cows throughout the city add a touch of humor to a well-crafted and satisfying mystery. It looks like I've added a new author to my collection.
