The promo material for this book reads like pulp fiction but Tubb was a member of the Sci Fi vanguard. The book begins a bit awkwardly but, it turns out, the main character was on his holiday for the opening segment. Tub's style reminds me of many of his contemporaries, especially Simak, Van Vogt and Bradbury. STAR Flight is great classic era Sci Fi, Tub presents a very believable story, plot and culture. I encourage fans of John Scalzi, Alastair Reynolds and Tony Ballentine to seek the works of E C Tubb.
