Jonathan Healy is a favorite author of mine.
I think this is one of the best of Healy's John Cuddy series. The victim was his best buddy from Vietnam. Because part of the mutilation done to the body is a message only Cuddy will recognize, he has to go beyond the law to avenge his friend. A great read.
