Third in the series, and don't start here, you'll be lost. It's not the fastest paced book in terms of action, but it moves along steadily. I thought all Eli's family felt real, the grigori villains were a little cartoony, but then we don't get a chance to know them. The jailbreak is marred by a discontinuity in logic (you'll spot it) and happens a lot more easily than I expected, although Harris makes up for it with the attack on Eli's house. Lizbeth is out of her element here among Russian royalty, I liked all the bits about clothes although it did slow things down a bit. Really like Felicia and her growing abilities. I've seen some comments about this is the end of the series, and maybe it is, but I wouldn't mind seeing Felicia and Lizbeth team up.
There's more fun action and adventure with a dash of romance when Lizbeth has to break Eli out of jail, figure out how to keep his family safe, and interact with Russian royalty without breaking too many rules of etiquette.
