I really enjoyed this book, which I started on a flight and all day at my business meetings I couldn't wait to get back to it. The plot was very well put together and the characters were quite colorful. If you like the Stephanie Plum series, you'll enjoy this tale. As soon as I finished it I checked on-line to see if she has any other books. Clearly a new author to watch.

A very fun book. I'm so impressed that this is a debut novel...Wow!
It got me involved from the beginning and held me til the end. I hope the author is working on more of the same!

Cute story. Not the normal setting for a romance.

Big city DEA meets his match with a small town deputy. And the occasional visit from the "gators". The book is filled with strong and somewhat eccentric characters. Often times humorous and sarcastic and definitely fast paced. This is one book that I will read again in the future.

Deputy Dorie Berenger knew it was going to be a rough day when the alligator she found in town drunk's swimming pool turned out to be stoned. On herion. Now she has some big shot city slicker from the DEA trying to take over her turf. And Agent Richard Starke is everything she'd feared-brash, demanding and way too handsome for his own good. Or hers.
The folks of Gator Bait, Louisiana may know everything about each other, bur they're sure not ging to share it with an outsider. Richard wouldn't be able to catch a catfish, much less a drug smuggler, without Dorie's help. But some secrets-and some desires-are buried so deep that bringing them to the surfaace will take a major Rumble on the Bayou.

Good book about the bayou, also a mystery in a small town

This was a cute book. I thought that Deputie Dorie was a handful and G'man Richard (Dick to Dorrie) was just the man to tame her Cajun ways.

Great book with a good plot and lots of grins. The big city DEA underestimates the local Deputy and finds out that she is almost more than he can handle in all departments!

Down home Louisiana Bayou fun and action. From the lucious Deputy Dorie Berenger to the driven to catch his man DEA agent Richard Starke from DC who thinks he has landed in Hicksville Hell...this book will have you in stitches. Catches your attention from page one and things go nuts from there to keep you laughing and engrossed. Great story and I am looking forward to the second in the series, Unlucky. Kudos to the author for a series that is sure to garner fans who are followers of the Stephanie Plum series and others that are both a mystery and a hoot to read. Enjoy!
Fun, light read! I always enjoy books based out of Louisiana and this one did not disappoint. The characters were quirky yet fun to follow.
DeLeon is a new author for me and I'm loving her writing style. She introduces us to remarkable people in a small southern Louisiana filled with unique abilities [an alligator "whisperer", a female Deputy that knows the bayou's like the back of hand, an undercover DEA agent named Richard that Deputy Dorie calls "Dick" just to get under his skin.
Add a middle aged Maylee who wraps herself in saranwrap as her weight loss program and it makes for a really funny (yes, I laughed through most of this book) and entertaining book. As a PLUS, Deleon weaves a really good mystery that had me guessing until the last few pages.
A great way to spend the day...I am now reading her "Miss Fortune" mysteries and they are a "priceless find" - I urge you to read and enjoy all of her books.

I love it!! reminds me of The Stephanie Plum Novels that Janet Evanovich writes!
Meet Deputy Dorie Berenger - her days of lingerie sunbathing are over....

A very average light-hearted mystery/romance blend.
I read a lot both mysteries and mainstream literature, and this book is the most entertaining Ive read in a long time!
The setting is Gator Bait, a small town nestled among the bayous of Louisiana. Its a real page-turner with a well-crafted and intricate plot. The characters are highly original and well developed some of them smart and heart-warming, others incredibly funny but ingratiating. Plus, theres romance thrown in for good measure.
The actual mystery plot has lots of twists and turns that flow well into the story, as opposed to some mysteries that haphazardly throw in unrelated twists from out of the blue. One of the things I appreciated most was the authors sense of humor, which is evident from beginning to end. There were times I laughed out loud, and other times that brought a tear to my eye.
Perhaps the only thing that I should warn timid readers about is that there are a couple of sex scenes, though probably only PG rated and very brief. No bad language, and the few and brief bits of violence tastefully accounted for without dwelling on anything gory.
As of this writing, the only other books Ive read by this author are the Mudbug Ghost-in-Law series. Though I enjoyed that series, Rumble on the Bayou (a stand-alone book, I think) is a little more on the edge of cozy, which suited me just fine because it provided a bit more depth to the tale. I look forward to reading more from this author.
