Now I admit this may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I had a splendid time tearing through this book. Absolutely my favorite by Suzanne Enoch and staying on my Keeper Shelf.
Be forewarned that if you don't care for tales like Master & Commander or enjoy the adventures of Horatio Hornblower, this may not float your boat. Luckily, I do, and found myself swept overboard into the adventure of it all, with the romance angle just the icing on the cake (for lack of a fitting nautical phrase to cause an additional groan).
This rates as one of the best reads I've had in a long while.

This book has just the right amount of humor that you expect to find in a book by Ms Enos. Bradshaw is a man who needs to find out to live in a world that is sort of at peace after the Napoleonic wars and the heroine really wants a home and family with someone that she is important to. The only thing that I found fault with is that she has not written the Duke's story in this Adventurers' Club series. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an enjoyable read.
Since I'm not into swashbuckling and pirates, this ain't my cup of tea. Others who are and into high seas adventure will definitely enjoy it. I prefer my h/h on terra firma.

I generally enjoy Suzanne Enoch as a light read, and I think this is one of her better books.
I especially liked the heroine, who is independent thinking and acting without being stupid about it (as one of the other reviews put it). And she also seems natural to her time period, instead of being a 20th century woman stuck in a 19th century book.
I really liked that the hero didn't feel any "thunderbolts" or "electricity" when he met the heroine (tired of that in romance novels), he just was a little intrigued by their conversation instead. The romance grew naturally from that, and was quite enjoyable and believable.
Altogether a very engaging read, makes me remember why I have liked Enoch over the years.

Overall it was an ok read. Definitely lots of ship and botany detail.
I really liked this one even though shipboard romances aren't generally favorites of mine. The heroine was snappy and cute without suffering from "feistiness" on a stupid level and the hero's surprise at falling in love with a pretty woman who's sarcastic and occasionally mouthy made for some funny moments. The romance was convincing and the sex scenes pretty hot. The biggest issue with the book from my perspective was that it could use some character editing. Too many people on too small a ship makes for too many moments and too much chatter not directly pertaining to the romance for my taste. But if you like Suzanne Enoch you should really like Rules of an Engagement.
