Excellent read! What Peter Mayle does for Provence, Loomis does for Normandy. I loved reading this tale of an American in France. I'm ready to hop aboard an Air France plane and head on over to sample all the wonderful foods!

A fun journey about an American woman who buys a house in a small town in France with her husband and family. There are the trials of "red-tape", fun characters and the cultural mismatches as they find their way in a new setting.

I was given this book in preparation for a 6 week sojourn to Europe, with Paris as our "home base". I found it quite entertaining. The back cover says... "Susan Loomis has written a radiant love letter to France - particularly Normandy - its countryside, food, markets, and people. Buy it and settle down for good reading and an occasional sortie into the kitchen.

I am really enjoying this book! The voice of the author is conversationally intentional - it reads just as if she is sitting there telling me about her adventures. Any type of adventures in France - I love to read them! Great stories.

I was in love with this book for the first chapter. Susan does a wonderful job of making you feel immersed in her memories and as if you are living with her and her family as they fix up their house on Rue Tatin.
I highly recommend the book as a great summer read but also to anyone who enjoys a great travel memoir.

A fun, quick read, even the second and third time I've read the book. Loomis writes a delightful story of her families' adventure to Normandy. This book includes many great recipes!!
