This wasn't as good as one of the Betsy books, but I still enjoyed the story regardless. This one was a bit slower than the first, but there were some great character moments. It's a fast read, since the print is fairly big and there's a lot of those blank between-the-chapter pages. It's silliness and humor is great for fans of the author.

Sequel to the Royal Treatment. I love the way Davidson writes, her characters are really Characters!

Funny and quick read. Although it was about Princess Alexandria there was storyline for Christina and David, their new baby, King Al, and everyone! Loved this book.

I love this wacky royal family...this book deals with Alex after she killed the bad guy and how she finds her happy ever after. Not as funny or sexy as the first, but still a very good read.

I love the Royal books. They are hilarious and lots of fun. MJD is just a fun author. Can't wait to read the next one in the series.

I actually read this series out of order (read book one, then book three, then book two), but this was still a fun, fast read that only took me about two hours to finish.

This installmant of the royal Baranov family from the country of Alaska centers around Princess Alexandria Baranov, the sister who saved her father's life at the end of THE ROYAL TREATMENT. Suffering from insomnia, nightmares, and a wee bit of paranoia after that event, King Al (along with the royal doctor, Dr. Pohl), decide that Alexandria could use some time away.

What ensues is Alex quickly arriving in North Dakota, even more quickly falling in lust with Dr. Sheldon "Shel" Rivers, lots of hot sex, royal misunderstandings, groveling, faster-than-the-speed-of-light courtships, and more sex.

If you like MJD's stories, you'll like THE ROYAL PAIN. If you want a bunch of character development, deep meaning, a lack of swearing, and the answers to the meaning of life, you won't find it within these pages.

All in all, a fun piece of fluff!

Great book, most sets that have more then two books to it kind of get redundent well this set dose not. It just gets better and better.

Marine biologist Dr. Shel (never Sheldon) has a problem Some princess expects his to wait on her hand and foot. Nobody realized he just wants to be left alone, all alone. Now here's Miss Royalpants, insisting that he escort her around the marine institute, explain what he's doing, kiss her until her toes curl...no, wait, that was his idea. Davidson's portrayal of this wacky royal family has got to make you laugh. Queen Elizabeth's court it's not.
A good, light read.

Sometimes Mary Janice Davidson writes a successful funny book, and this is one. Second of a series about a theoretic Alaskan Royal Family, the subtle and overt humor makes this a quick, fun read.

Following The Royal Treatment (2004), The Royal Pain brings readers to Davidson's fantasy Alaska, now a sovereign nation ruled by an atypical king, Alexander Baranov II, who works word puzzles and says things like "tough titty." Princess Alex, sleep deprived thanks to nightmares, is sent to inspect the North Dakota Institute for Sea Life. There she meets Dr. Shel Rivers, who hates rich people with a passion. While Alex's overly meticulous assistant, Jenny, loosens up and goes bowling with a handsome fishing guide, Alex and Shel discover blissful--if quirky--love.

I typically love MJD she iS usually so funny. This one was just drivel. Ugh. I kept reading thinking something would happen only to find out the last two chapters are previews for other books. So disappointed.
