Rosemary Cottage is one of those stories that pulls you right in to the lives of the characters. It opens with a murder and continues on with mystery, car bombing, suspense, romance and even some new births! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and I am sure you will too.

Rosemary Cottage continues in the vein of Tidewater Inn, the first book in the Hope Beach series. And if you have read Tidewater Inn, then you will recognize many of the characters in Rosemary Cottage. But in this story you get to learn about Curtis and Amy. Curtis is a Coast Guard and Amy is a midwife and healer. In fact, she gets to help with a birth in the very first chapter! But Amy is also searching for answers. Her brother Ben was killed in what appeared to be an accident with a shark but Amy received an email hinting there was more to it. Curtis is involved as well because his sister was dating Ben. There is a lot of intrigue in here and many twists and turns. You think you have things figured out and then Colleen throws in another clue that blows your theory out of the water.

As I hinted above there is a lot of suspense. Amy even gets to deliver a baby on a sinking craft!! You can tell that Colleen has done her homework and I found the insight into all the healing herbs and such quite interesting. You also get to find out about the Coasties:) One of the things I enjoy with Colleen's books though is the secondary characters. They are almost as much fun as the main people. In this one you have Heather, a runaway who knows so much more she lets on, Raine, who is such a sweetheart with all her "stay" and "mom". There was only one thing I didn't care for. Curtis and Amy are obviously drawn to each other. But it seemed at times they were best of enemies. They would be happy and talking to each other one minute and then the next they are upset. I know the author has to have tension between them as the romance heats up but it just happened a lot in the book. Did it keep me from reading it? Or even thinking of putting the book down before I was done? Not a chance!! I enjoyed the plot too much:) Overall a great book other than that small thing I mentioned. If you enjoy a sweet romance with a lot of mystery and suspense, give this one a try. You will be glad you did!

I received a copy of this book for my review purposes. All thoughts are 100% mine.

Rosemary Cottage is a charming place to be on Hope Island. Amy Lang has a lot of happy memories there with her family (especially her brother Ben). Now, however, Amy has come there to grieve the loss of Ben but also to find out what really happened to him. Shes also considering moving her midwife practice to the Island. Curtis Ireland works for the Coast Guard and is grieving the loss of his sister while raising her daughter, Raine. Amy and Curtis are drawn to each other but each has secrets. Will their secrets drive them apart when revealed? As they investigate and dig further into the truth about the death of their siblings, they find theyve opened Pandora s Box. Sometimes the truth can hurt, or even kill.

This is one of those stories that once you pick it up its hard to put down. Its loaded with twists and turns that take you down unexpected paths, which is always a treat. I enjoyed getting to know Amy and Curtis. Both are loyal and faith-driven people who care deeply about others. If youve read Tidewater Inn, (book 1 in the Hope Beach Series) youll be happy to know that Alec and Libby are very much a part of this story. It was fun catching up with them. Youll find danger, suspense, romance and an ending that was both expected and unexpected. I think this author did a great job of showing the effects of sin and greed in a persons life but also how God can change a heart. But unfortunately, though a heart is changed, there are still consequences to our behavior. If you enjoy a good romantic suspense then head on over to Hope Island. If youve never visited there before I recommend you start with Tidewater Inn, followed by a visit to Rosemary Cottage.
