While Agent Patrick Bowers is investigating a series of fires he stumbles across another case of a secret deadly weapon missing and connected to the fires, while he is doing his job he also has to deal with his stepdaughter who resents him telling her what to do although she really does love him and she gets herself into a situation at the same time he is trying to save someone's life. The story flows from the very first page to keep you turning the pages as fast as you can.

A fast-paced murder mystery that keeps your interest the whole way. Many twists and turns and really does keep you guessing until the very end. A great read!
I really enjoyed The Pawn and couldn't wait to get my hands on The Rook. It didn't disappoint! It was clever, fast & action packed. I love the main character, Patrick & feel for him as he goes through all his troubles on being a dad to Tessa & his feelings for Agent Lein-hua. It almost seems questionable that is is Christian Fiction, but there are undertones & in a few places it mentions Tessa's mom's faith in Jesus. You can see that some of the characters looking for answers for the questions they have about why all this is happening. All in all a great read & I am looking forward to starting The Knight next.
Good read right from the beginning to the end!
Excellent book!
Another great novel in the Patrick bower's series. Patrick, Ralph, & Lien-hua are investigating an arsonist this time with the help of the San Diego PD. Is the arsonist covering other crimes or just setting fires for the thrill of it? As the investigation mounts, different players, shady government DOD contracts, rich businessmen, & secrets all come bubbling to the surface. Balancing the fires & a suicide while spending time with his stepdaughter Tessa is complicating matters for Patrick as he doesn't know who to trust and is there a bigger picture behind the crimes. Trust the evidence wherever it takes you or A good investigator doesn't look for evidence to prove his theories, but to disprove them?
Great book. This is only the second story in a series and already I can't wait for the next one!
Fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat, CLEAN, thriller!
I thought the story line was a good one. As with most fiction, the villian and the hero fight and they are not injured seriously and the fight keeps going....not believable, but expected.
I thought this was Christian fiction, but after reading it I question that. I was happy to discover that there wasn't anything offensive (ie: language, sexual scenes, etc)
I pass on secular fiction because I don't enjoy reading with so much of that included in the story, which is unnecessary.
The book was good, and I would recommend it if you like thriller, suspense, murder mystery.
