Who is stealing the town pets?What are they doing with them? Where are they hiding them? How will we find them? A lite Fun mystery.
There was a lot of humor but I frankly had a little trouble following because of the expressions or language or something. It took a lot of concentration to catch the humor.
If you haven't read Hess, you've really missed a treat. Clever writing about the trials of raising a teenage hormonal factory, trying to make a living as a bookstore owner, and discovering murders.

Why in the world did bookstore owner Calire Malloy agree to dogsit two basset hounds? Soon the dogs disappear and Claire is on the trail of a killer.
This is one time where Hess's fabulous skills work against her. I just couldn't finish it. Joan Hess is a master of creating an image in the reader's mind of what the scene is. Unfortunately this story is about torturing animals, pit fights, etc. I just couldn't go any further with it after the second chapter.
