This is book One in the Montana Mavericks series. I have been collecting them, always eager for the next one to be published. Each book has a bit of a mystery and is written by a different author using the same characters. Each is a story on its own. I am now reading through the series again before listing each one. There are several other Montana Mavericks series after this one. If there is any interest in these novels, I will continue posting them until my Montana Mavericks shelves are empty.
very good reading, kind of laid back with a more modern time frame. good love story
Great author
Sterling McCallum, cop, and Jessica Larson, social worker, tangle over a domestic violence case. Sterling wants nothing to do with her, but can't seem to stay away from her either.
easy read. Typical Diana Palmer. Set in Montana, story of social worker Jessica and sheriff deputy Sterling McCullum.

one of my favorite books, if you are a Palmer fan,as I am, It is a must read. I love the discription of the hero in this book. Needless to say most of us would not discribe him a really handsome. But you come away at the end envying the heroine.
Sterling McCallum gave the plain, hard warning to Jessica Larson. The brooding rogue cop had a stone in place of a heart---and a past as mysterious as the case that had brought them together. But this time Jessica couldn't back off. Something compelled her to stand her ground--and brave the emotions this man had long aroused. Suddenly, their darkest secrets, their deepest desires, simmered to the surface...about to explode.
