Johanna has done it again! I could barely put this book down. Great story, romance, can't say enough. A MUST read!!!
Yes, this was typical Johanna Lindsey in a Victorian-era romance. I expected a little more court intrigue in the storyline; I love it when the author throws real history into a plot. But the gist of the story is - the hero gets the heroine pregnant in the first 3rd of the book, and the rest of the story consists of them butting heads and mistrusting each other. Of course, everything is forgiven, straightened out, and resolved in the end with the obligatory "I love you"s. Very predictable and ultimately disappointing.
I am a long time Johanna Lindsay fan and really enjoyed the Malory series. This book, while enjoyable for a quick read was more like a formula book. The story was very predictable, it's been done numerous times before. The so called Spymaster was just too mild a character. The hero was annoying and very closed minded and the heroine was just no match for him being so naive for most of the book although I did like her better than the hero (angel- faced...Really?).
It was worth the credit but I'm glad I didn't spend money for the full price of this book.
