Boring, boring, boring! Most of the book was the same thing over and over, she was dumped by her fiance, he's out for revenge. Bla, bla, bla...This could have been written with so much more content, Bourne owned a gambling hell. From the dust jacket I thought Penelope was going to really take advantage of this but no, the story went nowhere. She sat around the house day and night brooding. He sat plotting his simple revenge. The last third of the book the story finally picked up. My first and last Sarah MacLean book judging from this one. What a waste of reading time. In the words of Penelope-I expected more.

Bourne is part owner of an exclusive gaming club. 10 years prior he lost everything in a game of cards to someone he trusted; his guardian. Since then, he's rebuilt himself and is after his lands. He will gt his lands back at any cost. Revenge is what he lives for. Michael is not a nice person anymore.
Penelope was engaged to a Duke who fell in love with someone else. This being the world in which we live, it was (of course) all her fault. As a result, 2 of her sisters took hasty marriages. Her 2 remaining sisters are on the marriage-mart. For her sisters to marry well, it's on Penelope to make a good match. Penelope grew up with Michael and has always loved him.
Overall this was a nice friends to enemies to lovers romance. I really liked Penelope and her growth throughout the book. It took the whole for me to like Michael. I didn't like his treatment of Penelope. And in the end, there really wasn't any groveling on his part. I did like the end with the revelation regarding Langford and the teaser for the next book. I did like Pippa (didn't care for Penelope's other sister Olivia- she's a bit selfish).

This is the third book I have read by Sarah Maclean and I have to say I've enjoyed them all 'A Rogue by Any Other Name' included.

Maclean's books contribute something to the historical romance genre.

A Rogue by Any Other Name is exactly what you expect in a historical romance. Penelope is an excellent heroine. She is kind but not timid. She makes the best of her situation without letting Bourne walk all over her. Bourne is your typical rogue but I enjoyed watching his transformation to loving husband.

I enjoyed the story plot and the characters who ,play an important part in the story.
I wish to keep this book as it will be #i in a series of 3 brothers and their quest to find happiness in their lives and make right the wrongdoings that happen in their lives.

I've been meaning to read this series for a while, but have put them off until now. Big mistake! I've been missing out, folks. I'm so glad I read this one because I simply can't wait to read the others.

Is there anything better than finishing a fantastic book on a cold winter's day? The answer is no, especially when it involves this author. I was absolutely absorbed in this story. Sarah MacLean writes with such passion that you lose yourself in the characters, and the romance. The secondary characters are stellar all on their own. I cannot wait to read their stories.

If you've not read this series, please give them a go! I highly recommend this book. There's nothing not to love about it.

Brava, Ms. MacLean! I'm on to the next.

My favorite quotes:
It wasn't supposed to be this way.
She wasn't supposed to affect him like this.
He wasn't supposed to want her so very much.
He wasn't supposed to be so very drawn to this adventurous, exciting woman who had evolved from the woman he'd married.
And yet he was.

He drew one hand down her arm in a long, lush stroke. "You terrify me." His lips twisted into a wry smile as his fingers stroked and teased at the soft skin of her wrist, her elbow, her shoulder.
"How is that possible?"
"I can't take small tastes of you, love. I can only gorge on you. You're irresistible." He pressed a kiss to her shoulder, his tongue coming out to lave the skin there. "You're like the rattle of dice. The shuffle of cards. You call to me until I ache with desire for you." The words were a whisper of breath at the base of her neck. "I could easily become addicted to you."
The words set her heart pounding. "And that is bad?"
He chuckled, the rumble of laughter vibrating against her stomach and breasts. "For me, yes. Very very bad."
.....................................................................
He stilled. "Penelope." She opened her eyes, meeting his serious black gaze. He leaned down and took her lips in a long, slow, promise- filled kiss. "I'm so sorry you ever felt dishonored, love...in this moment, there is nothing about you that I do not find utterly precious. Know that."
Tears came to her eyes at the words, stunning and filled the truth.
She nodded. "I do."

Have loved this series, all of the Fallen Angel club owners have a past they think they can't overcome and when a special woman comes along or back, they have a wild ride waiting for them.
