I truly enjoyed this book.
My first surprise was to find out that this book is the follow up to Morgans The Truest Pleasure (another good book, which should be read before this one).
Then later on I notice familiar names that I have read before in one of his books. Come to find out the family that The Truest Please and This Rock tells of are neighbors to the family that you read about in Morgan's Gap Creek!
I really like Morgan's style of writing. Can't wait to read another Morgan book.

From the author of Gap Creek--an international best seller and book award winner. Takes place in the 1920's in the Appalachian Mountain world. An excellent read.

yes This Rock was my kind of book, even better than the previous one, Gap Creek, have passed them on to my daughter. I like books pretaining to Appalacia. I am now ready for The Truest Pleasure...Bill Hayes
Great story from a well-known author of Appalchian folklore.
nice story about a young man finding his way.......
This was a nice listen for a long trip. My third book by this author, and he hasn't disappointed yet. Gritty, Southern fiction, a tale of two brothers always at odds, always messing up, and, of course, their long-suffering mother. I know that sounds flippant, but it isn't meant to be. I truly do recommend this book.
Wonderful story about two brother who begin so different; yet come together
through God's grace. Has wonderful old Christian Values!

Another great novel by the author of Gap Creek.
Delightful!
Wow - I really didn't enjoy this book. I didn't like the story, I didn't like the characters.
The book WAS well written, and enjoyable from that aspect.

"Transports readers directly to the wild and forgotten mountains of North Carolina and to the secret, hopeful places in a young man's heart". The novel Gap Creek is by the same author.
