One of Stephen King's better novels, originally written under the pseudonym of Richard Bachman. This is a delightfully psychological work about a man whose life is drastically affected by the construction of a new highway.
Not Stephen King's best, however his writting still captures you.
King at his best!
Before they tear down a road that is important to him, Bart Dawes will throw one big party and with this author it will be a good one.
This is a great early book of King's (writing as Bachman) that any fan of his needs to grab. Good stuff.

Very thought provoking. Knowing now that King wrote it after his mother's death makes sense. I think you need to be a little older to appreciate the helplessness that the main character had. This book will stick with me for some time I think.
They're tearing down Bart Dawes's home, leveling his memories, and destroying his past, all for a new highway extension. Funny what that kind of progress can do to a man. Scary, too.
*It has been a few years since I have read this book, but I remember it being a pretty decent read. The book is a mass market that has very gentle wear (there is hardly even a bend in the spine). It has just been sitting on the shelf, so I thought someone else might want to read it!*
