#4 Dido Hoare mystery, featuring the antiquarian bookseller in London. Once again, I think there was just way too much "fem jep" (where the heroine puts herself in danger needlessly) in this book. I like Dido--I like her a lot, and I adore her father and son as well--but that doesn't mean I don't want to slap her upside the head for doing such stupid things! In this book, Dido ends up helping her son Ben's nanny. Phyllis involved Dido with a whispered call for help in the middle of the night, when some strange men burgle her flat and ultimately her husband ends up murdered. For whatever reason, Dido finds it impossible to let the police investigate and once again strikes out on her own trying to get to the bottom of things. Better than the last one, but still disappointed that Dido endangers herself and seems to lose her brain on a regular basis.
