I thought this book was pure pleasure...edge to edge. It was a bit slow in the middle but over all a really delightful read. I didn't really consider it a fishing story, but rather a story about a family that was enthralled with fishing. Great variety of characters. Really good human feel to it.

This book was recently selected by Jackson County, Oregon for its "one book, on community" reading project. Very entertaining. Originally published by arrangement with the Sierra Club.

Charmingly written, witty and kind hearted. I read it during a very troubled, sad time and it was the perfect antidote! Some out loud laughs and some very recognizable human foibles set in a whale of a fishing story. (I couldn't help myself)
