Unabridged 3 cassette 4+ hours
Abridged Edition - 3 hours
One of the best selling audiotapes ever! This title has become hard to find lately due to buyouts of various publishers.
This beautifully written autobiographical tale has become one of the classics of American Literature! I can just picture all the kids in middle school and high school having to do reports on this one.
This book contains numerous themes, with some of the strongest being the struggle for grace (represented by the art of fly fishing), the ebb and flow of time, and the whole idea of family. To me, the examination of "family" is perhaps the strongest theme in the book. You examine relationships between husband and wife, father and son, mother and son. It's the duties and relationships that seem to be the centerpiece of the story. MacLean's haunting by what happens to his brother makes the book what it is.
This is a wonderful little audio - if you have or haven't seen the movie, give it a listen - renew your admiration for the classic story.
