I read the audiobook of The River by Peter Heller because two book podcasters praised it highly. While I read widely, this book is not within my usual genres. I'm glad I read it and I appreciate the skillful weaving of the nature adventure with the thoughtful coming-of-age stories. However, I don't have an urgent need to read the author's other titles ... and I think of this book every time I see blueberries. Thank you, Anne and Susie, for motivating me to read outside my usual zone.

Very low rating!

I thought this would be a thriller but it turned out to be a boring wordy description of everything including a tree, not my kind of reading

I tried to stick with it but the story was jerky and choppy, these 2 friends sound like backwood idiots with their dreams and flashbacks that didn't add anything but words and pages

Boring very boring!
