O.k. so I'm still trying to catch my breath! I just finished reading....and that was...scary.

This book was a pretty complete departure from the others in the series but, still classic PB and expertly written in that wonderful voice she uses for her characters.

The first difference in this book from the others was that it pretty much all Adam and Mercy all the time. That was cool with me because I love, love them together and I can't get enough. The hottness of their honeymoon was mostly just alluded to rather than described which was a little diappointing to me. I know this is not a series like that and I wouldn't want it to be but, there have been some pretty hot scenes in the past and I would have liked one for the honeymoon! (See end of Silver Borne...woo-wee) It was nice to see a different, less tough side of the both of them and see how in love they are with one another. The wedding was perfect A and M. LOVED IT!!

The next difference was the supporting characters were all pretty much new comers to the Mercy universe. In the begining there was a little interaction with the series regulars. (Stefan!! Yea!!) However the meat of the story was told out of the Tri-Cities and away from those we all know and love. Now that said these new characters were likable and many pretty well developed. One in particular left me wanting more....and I think that will be delivered. I always felt Mercy not knowing more about her "Walker" heritage was dangerous and she was able to gain some insight and will possibly gain some more. Wow..that was one scary critter, the scariest Mercy had ever faced maybe, she had me biting my nails!

My only complaint with the book, the only thing that kept it from the coveted 5 star review from me was the absence of the regulars spacifically, Samuel. Where on earth was he...he didn't even have much of a part in the wedding. No words of wisdom, no toast...come on I needed something from him. There was one tiny hint at his relationship with the fae woman, nothing more on that. I needed to know Samuel was alright after the events in Silver Borne.

I love, love this series! All I can say is PB write faster, PLEASE!!! This is an intelligent, action filled, kick ass series with a heroine you can be proud of. Start at the begining with Moon called and you won't be sorry you did!!

*warning* a huge torrent of gushing admiration about to commence...

I now understand people who are so blinded by their love of an author, they truly believe they can write no wrong (listen closely Lisa Kleypas fans) The eye rolling is over, I am officially capitulating and stand repentant... I am now one of you - with Patricia Briggs. I love everything about the way she writes. Her Mercedes Thompson series is humorous, suspenseful, touching, warm, scary, inventive, romantic - everything, just everything I love in a story! Even with six of them now under her belt, the quality is never better.

In River Marked, Mercedes and Adam's relationship is given the much needed attention it deserves. Briggs ability to write a couple so real yet so sigh-worthy while keeping their animal natures in tact is incredible. They are both strong characters, allowed to be even stronger through their love for each other. While the plot-line of a water monster was not as riveting to me as others have been, the interest and page-turning suspense was still present right along with the touch of humor that makes Mercedes such a beloved character.

I got this book from the library and WOW, it was awesome!!

This time ~ Mercy and Adam are fresh off their wedding (think of this as their honeymoon) and Adam takes Mercy off into the wilderness so they can get back to nature. This "nature" excursion is more like a high class campground and the owner is a customer of Adams and he is there to test things out before its grand opening. But when the Fae get involved and the Walking Stick shows up, the craziness begins!

Mercy learns a bit about her heritage and her magical background which fills in some gaps that were missing from previous books.

I dont want to spoil it, but the story is gooooooood and Briggs does not disappoint!

I hope Patricia Briggs never tires of this book series. I really enjoy Mercy and Adam's world. Learning more of Mercy's background and heritage leads to many more possibilites. I can't wait for the next book.

Why are all the good books such quick reads? Why can I finish a book I love in no time at all and then have to wait a year, or more!, to read the next installment? Why can't the authors of books I love focus only on the series I enjoy and crank out book after book all year long? This is how I feel about the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. (Although, to be honest, I also enjoy Briggs' Alpha & Omega series, so she'll need to start splitting her time between the two :)

River Marked (Mercy Thompson, Book 6) is a book I'd been waiting to read for quite a while. It had been almost a year since Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson, Book 5) and I was dying to catch up with Mercy, Adam, Stefan, Zee and the Pack. Things open with Mercy under considerable stress regarding her impending wedding. Her mother's continued outrageous suggestions leave Mercy crying for, well, mercy. She decides that she and Adam should get married right away, before the planned wedding, without all the bells and whistles. Mercy's simple ceremony turns into a rather pleasant surprise provided by her family and friends--OK, maybe that was a bit of a spoiler, but I didn't tell everything. The real action starts when Mercy and Adam leave for their honeymoon--outside forces have even managed to manipulate where they honeymoon, but Adam assures her that they are in the area for a reason and that the reason will show itself soon enough and, sure enough, it does. At least they get a few days of peace before Mercy finds herself facing a Native American river monster that is terrorizing the area. She and Adam connect with a very interesting group of Native Americans to try and set things right.

What I liked most about this book is that Mercy finally connects with her father's side. She finds out a lot about her father and gains some powerful allies in the Native American world. This is the first time the reader really gets to see this side of Mercy, where her magic comes from and where her roots lay. I also really enjoyed the bond between Mercy and Adam. We get to see them as a couple, without work or pack business getting in the way. Their relationship is explored and explained on new and different levels and they really hone their communication skills. The story is great--lots of action and magic involved, including new magical elements for Mercy to explore. Overall, I really enjoyed River Marked (Mercy Thompson, Book 6), it's a great addition to the Mercy Thompson series. I hope Patricia Briggs is busy writing the next Mercy Thompson book because I can't wait to read it!!

For anyone out there unfamiliar with this series, start with Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, Book 1). Once you've started the series, you won't be able to put it down! Also, check out Cry Wolf (Alpha and Omega, Book 1), a companion series to the Mercy Thompson series which focuses on one of Mercy's pack mates from her childhood.

Mercy and Adam get some much needed relaxation on their honeymoon. Just kidding! Of course they take a seemingly innocuous escape from the stresses of the pack, the fae and the vampires. Only to be thrown into the path of some big Native American oogie boogie.

My favorite bit about this book was the fact that there was a lot of discovery about Mercy's Indian heritage. For the fact that she these unique abilities, up until now, Mercy hadn't known anything about her father and whether or not there were other Walkers.

There are only some quick guest appearances from the supporting cast. (Jesse, Stefan, the pack, Zee, ect) So we finally get some much needed development of Adam and Mercy's relationship. Up until it'd been: Disaster, Other Disaster, Fae are a pain in the butt, Adam and Mercy give each other googly eyes, disaster.

One thing I'd really appreciate if Patricia Briggs did, though, is give us a list of sources or something about all the Native American legends she used. There were a lot of offhand remarks about stories I wasn't familiar with. But other than that? I'm still hooked and still LOVING Mercy. Now...when is the next Alpha and Omega book out?

Thoroughly enjoyed the story. It does focus on Mercy and Adam, but in a good way ... their relationship is developed more fully. However, the deviation from the other Mercy books is the focus on Native American culture which other readers may not enjoy, but I found fascinating and well-written. Looking forward to the next edition.

Yay! That is the way I felr throughout most of this book. And again, I read it so fast that I was finished far too soon. This book focuses on Mercy and Adam. As much as I love the pack and all the other characters in Mercy's world, I loved the emphasis on Mercy and Adam's relationship. I appreciated the information on Mercy's past and ancestry. I really liked the Native American stories and how they are intertwined with Mercy. A most excellent read! 5 stars

I was torn between giving this book a four or five star and honestly I think I gave it a four because there was no four and a half. :) This series has had my full attention since I've started it. The romance, the action, the slight mystery's that ly ahead, and of course the strong, stuborn, smartmouthed Mercy is a plus also. I Loved the last touch to the book with the add in of Mercy's letter to Adam. Also this book out of all of them so far I think drew me in more because of all the Native American aspects to it. I liked that the Author gave us more background on Mercy herself fromm Coyote of all "people". I'll be waiting for the next book that's for sure.

Mercy and Adam finally tie the knot after ten years of dating and honeymoon like poor white trash in a camper on the bank of the Columbia River on the Washington/Oregon border. Of course this isn't all fun and games, and don't forget sex though as usual we aren't treated to any of the particulars. Shape-shifting otters play a huge role in this mediocre plot as does a ginormous mysterious sea creature. Toss in the ghost of Mercy's long-dead father, yo-yo girl, an ancient Indian god and you should have had a fantastic story but nope didn't happen. I wasn't overly impressed with this installment of the Mercy Thompson series. It was surprisingly slow and boring. Just bleh. I found that I really didn't care how it ended and I thought the monster was way over the top. Usually this series is somewhat believable but this book was just unreal and there was just no way in hell that Mercy could have overcome this particular monster.

I know there will be more books in this series and I hope to heck they get back to the "real" world and are more entertaining than this space filler.

I hate to say this because I have LOVED all the previous books in this series but I was disappointed in River Marked. I thought it was really slow getting to the climax of this plot. I also found myself confused with the roles of the new characters that she introduced. Actually I found this book to be slow. I say this because I felt like I was hanging on to the edge of my seat the whole way through the previous five. It's still a good read. It just wasn't what I expected.

I was so disappointed with the last two books that I wasn't sure I would want to read this one. I just couldn't finish the last two and couldn't get interested. This one though has me rethinking the series and I think I might go back and read the last two again. I actually liked that it was so concentrated on Mercy and Adam (maybe that was why I lost interest in the last two, not sure). I love the addition of other characters and the background on Mercy's father. It was slightly slow to start but once I was at Chapter Three, I was hooked.

My only complaint, which is not new to Briggs because she does this with all her books, is the way she throws God in so much. Not being a Christian, it gets on my nerves a bit but she definitely has toned it down since her first book.

There is also quite a bit of action towards the end and as I mention before it is concentrated a lot of Adam and Mercy, making their relationship work. If you are into really detailed love scenes, you will be disappointed but really I don't think it takes away from the book.

This is a very good and I would recommend it. Also check out her Alpha and Omega series based on Charles and Anna if you haven't. I actually like those more than the Mercy books.

I have missed Mercy! And as usual she has gotten herself into another fight to the death. Adam and Mercy head off for their honeymoon (finally, than god!) and land right back into the middle of a supernatural drama. This book takes a different route through the supernatural world than the previous ones. This brings you closer to Mercy's true roots in American Indian culture, and is just as fascinating. I don't want to give to many details away, but this is a page turning obsession. I read it in one afternoon, barely putting it down. It does leave most of "the pack" behind and focuses on Mercy and Adam. They are just about my most favorite couple, I can't get enough of them. And the sense of humor Briggs writes with leaves me laughing out loud. What will Mercy get herself into next? This books ending is a little abrupt and doesn't leave us with any hints as to the next one. But I will have it on pre-order as soon as I can order it. For anyone who has not read this series, start at the beginning. Don't let the cover fool you, Mercy is a great character as are all the others Briggs brings to this series. I love them all!!

Book 6 in the Mercy Thompson series. Great read....kept my attention and staying up late to find out what's happening. Her (Patricia Briggs) imagination is tremendous and amazing. I am in awe of her.

Would like to have had more interaction with the 'regular' characters. However, the newly introduced ones were very interesting.

Keep them coming Patricia!

Mercy and Adam are married, set off on a honeymoon only it turns out they are working on a case for the Faes. But Mercy happens to run into her father side of the family and the Coyote himself that is her father but isn't ( you have to read the book to understand this part.

Cant wait for the 7th book Frost Burn to come out.

A nice entry in the Mercy Thompson series. Having a married couple usually reduces opportunities for conflict in a series, so we'll see what Briggs does with this, but so far so good. Mercy and Adam are on their honeymoon and of course it isn't uneventful. I really liked how Coyote was presented and the solving of some mysteries for Mercy. The thread involving the walking stick might be ended, maybe. Mercy has some new allies. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Mercy and Adam, just married, go on their honeymoon. What could happen? Well, it turns out certain supernaturals encouraged this trip. There is a monster that lives in the river that it killing people. So, I think you can guess who is tasked with handling it.
I can't believe I'm giving this a 3. But, it was harder for me to get into. It was easy to put down and I got distracted easily. I really liked Mercy learning more about her heritage. These were the best parts of the book. What I missed, was the Pack. It was weird them being away from home. I am interested if some of the new characters make appearances in later books.
Still an awesome series.
