"The Rise and Fall of the Knights Templar" is such a book. Relying on the works of actual Templar Historians of the past, this book is a collection of short essays by Charles G. Addison, Henry Hart Milman and F. C. Woodhouse who offer their accounts of the formation and suppression of the order began in Palestine in 1118. Also contained in this short work is a forward by Stephen Dafoe, Grand Historian of the Sovereign Great Priory of Canada as well as an appendix containing the Papal Bulls, which effectively suppressed the original order. These bulls, "Vox in Excelso" the bull of suppression and "Ad Providam" the bull that turned remaining assets over to the rival order of the Hospitallers are a welcome addition to the work. They allow the student of Templarism to weigh the evidence presented in the essays and see first hand that the order was indeed wrongfully accused.« less
