This is one of the best John Saul books I have ever read. About a family that inherits an ancestial home , where the worst imagined evil lives. I could not put this one down until I was done, then longed for more. Horror in John Saul style. 5 stars.

read this book and it scared me so bad i was up in bed just scared. I got through it but will never pick up another john saul book LOL I am too chicken to handle it.

This isnt my favorite John Saul book. It was just ok. The last few chapters were a little too bizarre and not at all believable.

Pretty graphic and violent, but with a good story.
Classic John Saul, starts out slowly, like water simmering, before it starts to boil! A fun, quick, creepy, "devilish" read!

I've read a lot of his books but this one was just too much for me. It was not only frightening but gruesome as well.

This is one of my favorite John Saul books and I love them all. Trust me you will love it.
One of the most exciting story lines I have ever read...the blurb that you read about the premise of the tale don't even scratch the surface. Make sure you keep the tissues close.
This book moves at a frenetic pace. It is a good light read. There is nothing earth shattering about it. I didn't find the plot overly complicated. It was somewhat predictable. If you want to escape for a day or so and don't mind mild horror than this is your book. If you want to be challenged pick another.

This was an okay read. I read it over a long weekend. It has some good creepy sences, but is for the most part your average Saul novel.
Predictable yet still a good read. I did enjoy this book but, I was a bit disappointed with the ending. The ending seemed as though Mr. Saul was just tired of writing this story and wanted it to be over in the fasted way he could dream up.

This was my first John Saul book and I loved it. The story really sucked me in. The writing kept me on the edge of my seat and kept my interest right up to the end.
I had a hard time getting into this book. The heroine was not someone I could identify with.

This is one scary story. The last of the cursed Conway family inherits the old family mansion. They don't know they are cursed and don't have any idea why the people in the town don't like them. The evil unfolds all through the book. I really enjoyed it.

As usual, John Saul pulls you in and you do not want to stop reading.
This particular plot line has been done to death. If you really like ghost stories, it's okay but no real surprises.
