This book was a very good book. It was hard for me to put down. This book is about an older lady that has a friend that has cancer. They start wondering about things that happened in another friends past after she is long gone. Like a child that she had and gave up and whose child it was. It is a story that has many twists.

This is a heartbreaker and a tear jerker if you can handle it. Deep storyline with incredible characters who became real to me as I read it.

An absorbing book of four friends now grown up. When one of them gets cancer, it complicates their trying to get closure on events in the past. Fascinating. Very well done - characters seem real.

Friendship, mystery, love ...Could the answers be found in the old neighborhood? We'd all grown up in D.C. Marilyn, me, Steve, Penny, and Wish ..the boy I'd loved. We arn't young any more. Sometimes there's a chance to go back and right a wrong. Marilyn is convinced Penny had had a baby, and that the child belonged to her family. My lifelong friend can't follow up--she's fighing cancer. Only I can search for answers, but will finding the truth break my heart...or set us all free?

Penny was always extra sensitive. Even at a young age, her childhood friends, Marilyn and Barbara, felt the need to protect her. Then, the terrible thing happend and Penny was never the same. That was many years ago. Decades later, Marilyn (who has cancer) and Barbara (who divorced and has been reunited with her childhood love) learn a lot more about Penny, their childhood and themselves with the help of an elderly woman who lived in their old neighborhood.
