If you want an overview of the best Italy has to offer, this is a great travel book, even if the prices are out of date. Steves' breezy style, maps, diagrams and walks will guide you through the major cities and regions, with smaller interesting towns included. I like his inside tips on avoiding lines and getting around - for me these details are prime obstacles. Choosing where to go is easier when you know what you are looking for: his coverage of attractions, churches, and special things to do makes it easier to choose from the great Italian "pie" of delights.
