This book drags itself down by trying to be both a funny and light-hearted tale of running animal-viewing safaris in Africa, and a treatise on African politics (particularly apartheid) in the mid-20th-century). The safari tales (and tales from the lecture circuit) are very funny indeed. The political portion is best skimmed, unless one has a particular interest in the subject.
