This seems a good overview. It's more in-depth than one of those Reader's Digest-type DIY books but still a bit dated, at this point. Saving old houses isn't quite the art form it was 25 years ago. Not having seen the newer editions, I can't say if it's been updated. Even if it wasn't, this book would still be handy beginner treatise in simple, efficient restorations.
