Enjoyed this very much - well written so the characters came alive; easy to understand without seeming too simple; interesting story; scary tests and details - I look forward to reading the next in the series.

This is a great book for anyone who likes a well-told, scary story. It's the first book in a series about a young boy named Thomas Ward. Youn Tom is the seventh son of a seventh son, making him a perfect candidate to be trained to the the next "Spook" of the County. In his training he learns about witches, boggarts, and other evil characters. (You'll have to read the book to learn what a boggart is!) This book definitely wants to make me read the next one in this series!
I read this book as an adult, and really enjoyed it. Might be a bit too scary for a 9-year old though, as the book's target audience is 9 to 12 year-olds.

I love, love LOVE these books. They are creep and get creepier every book. I couldn't put them down. Fans of Harry Potter will love these.

I absolutely loved this book. The author is very imaginative and held my attention with very page. I highly recommend this book.
I really was surprised how much I liked this book. I had accidentally bought a book about Beasts thinking it was another book, but after reading the entries it led me on a hunt to find out more about this series.
