This author is new to me and for the most part, I was intrigued by certain elements and surprised by others. Surprised that the love scenes were not only plentiful but more erotic than you would find in a typical historical romance, but who's complaining? And intrigued by this group called the Jaded, their shared horrific experience, and how Galen decides to carry out his revenge. Most of this story showcased Haley's seduction, and it was well done. My only complaint was a rather weak subplot (unknown enemies trying to ferret information from the Jaded) and a rushed and unsatisfying ending. 3.5 stars.
I have really liked Renee Bernard's previous books (her Mistress series was great!). And I was not disappointed with this one at all. It was great and makes me look forward to the rest of the stories to come in this new series. I was very intrigued by the secondary characters that were introduced and will have upcoming stories, I'm sure, and can't wait to read theirs as well. Somehow she is able to make all of her books be romantic, but not too sugary sweet. Her characters usually have depth and edges to them that make them very interesting to me and make the stories have greater complexity. I highly recommend it, as well as any of her other books.

Vengeance doesn't always come out as planned.Galen desires to ruin Haley. She is ignited by passion but desperation for her family is what is important makes a intriguing story.

This was an intriguing book with lots of seduction sciences, a bit more detailed and frequent than in most HR books but eh. The Jaded each experienced something horrendous in India and they all but one lived to tell about it. Galen tries to destroy Haley due to his loyalty and love for his lost friend John. This has the makings of a great storyline with all kinds of subplots but that is where the author fell flat. Mysterious men plotting that you don't know and for what cause, a hook to read the next one but very disappointing ending that was very rushed and unrealistic. Will give book two a read and see if more develops in a more satisfying way.

Good story, great characters and even greater sex! This is definitely not for the "faint of heart"! If you're not a fan of erotic sex, this book is probably not for you but if you are, definitely grab this one! I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series.
