You want humor? You want crazy family? You want detectives? You want a heroine who loves Get Smart episodes and makes lists of everything in her life (including ex-boyfriends, of which she has over 10)? Then you definitely want Isabel (Izzy) Spellman. But really, any of her family will do.

Theyre all private detectives, you see. And in this family, snooping on each other is the only way to get any information. Its an art form that Izzy and her two siblings (older, perfect David and younger, junk food junkie Rae) are all taught from a very early age.

Izzy is...well, shes kind of a fuck up and was rather a nightmare of a child for her parents. But shes a brilliant detective. And shes trying. She really is.

The series is comprised of:
The Spellman Files
Curse of the Spellmans
Revenge of the Spellmans
The Spellman's Strike Again

I've read them all, and highly recommend the entire series.

I think these books are great! I love the format, they are laugh out loud funny. Can't wait to read book four. I feel like I know the Spellman's!

I really love the Spellmans. I love that family surveillance is their way of showing how much they care. I love that Henry is starting to pick up their behaviors. I can't wait until Izzy realizes how much like her mother she is. This is a great series, not so much a mystery as a compelling family dynamic. Start with the Spellman Files and love them like I do.

I am quite sad that I will have to wait so long - especially since the ending was just not very satisfying, unfortunately. I mean, the case she worked on was surprisingly easy to figure out... and now it looks like Isabelle won't end up with Henry after all!! I mean, I realize that this type of romantic suspense is key to the genre of the 60s sitcom... but the ending note was not very hopeful... and added to all of her "old" friends moving away... it was just sort of a sad finish with such a long wait ahead. I did enjoy the new Irish bartender, Connor, but I just feel like I need to read something that will lift my spirits after reading this comedic novel, oddly enough. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy reading it - because I did - I just really want her to end up with Henry!!

I'm loving this series. It's written out like reports & dossiers. Family dysfunction along with working in the same business. I can't wait to read the next one

Am enjoying this series - features one of the most disfunctional families of this genre. In this outing, Izzy finally gets the message she needs to grow up. Figured out the mystery part of it but the personal good-byes were sweet and well done. The humor will sneak up on you and I do recommend the series.
