Juliana was a 14th century contemplative nun from Norwich. "Revelations" records portions of Juliana's dialogue with God as it extended over a period of twenty years. Juliana wanted these revelations written down because she hoped that all who read it would heartily thank God "for his endless love, mercy and goodness and guide us to everlasting bliss". This book is considered a mystical classic. It has lasted about 600 years and is sorely needed today, perhaps more than ever. As secular as the Western world is today, including the U.S., it must seem strange for a reader to come upon a book which the author offers to share her "dialogue with God". People who claim to hear God and/or talk to him are thought of as somewhat crazy. Yet it's been less than 50 years that the "God does not exist" or "God may or may not exist" refrain is heard throughout our culture. I say 50 years because it didn't happen over night. Yet today many are hungry for an experience of God, especially his divine love. This is one of several Christian spiritual classics that helps anyone on that arduous but most rewarding path.
