I found Sonnet and Zach interesting characters in the earlier books in this series and was glad to catch up on their lives.
I was on vacation when I read this book, and there are parts of it that are pretty depressing for vacation reading, but it is a good story that is worth seeing where the author takes these characters after they've grown up and have their own lives. She did a good job on bringing them to life as adults and not the kids we knew in earlier books.
It's a great series!

This was a pleasant surprised because Sonnet was never my favorite character. I thought she was too much like the younger version of Sophie (for those who are not a fan of the series, she is a Sonnet's stepfather's ex-wife). In many ways, she still was but maybe a smarter one who was able to catch her mistakes quicker.
I loved that this book was about more than just Sonnet and Zach finally getting together. It was about her mother's, Nina, struggle with breast cancer. It was more about Sonnet really growing up, finding herself, and making a stand. It made me appreciate Sonnet in ways that I never did before.
Great read with a few tear jerker and frustrating moments.

Sonnet grew up in a small town and couldn't wait to escape to explore the world beyond the small town. She was raised by a single mom who was pregnant at a young age, so their bond is like no other. So when her mom calls with good and bad news, she drops her entire life and returns to the small town with the history of her childhood to confront.
