This is shaping up to be a great series. This is the story of Kaderin the Coldhearted & Sebastian. She is an unfeeling Valkryie who kills vampires & he is a tortured vampire who wishes for death. The problem is when she sees him she starts to feel again & cannot kill him & his heart starts beating. As she fights her new feelings, she cannot believe she is falling for a vampire, there is a contest entered called the "Hie". If she can win she can bring back her dead sisters (the winner will obtain a key to turn back time) but she will have to decide about Sebastian also. She really tries to fight her feelings but he will stop at nothing to have her. Great story here.......looking forward to the next. Also a great mix of characters......some old, some new.

I loved this book! Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series is fantastic.
Creative characters, funny dialog, smoldering hot men and beautiful, strong women, what more could you ask for? I'm so looking forward to the rest of the series.

Paranormal with a twist. I really liked her historicals better but that tends to be my favorite. BUT... if you like paranormals it is well worth the reading. Just be prepared for a wild ride. It was also pretty darn steamy!!

Very good book. The hero and heroine have a lot of emotional and sexual tension between them. The author does a very good job of balancing the characters, the plot and their romantic conflict. This book made reading the first in her series worthwhile.

Second book in her new series after the PEARL award, A HUNGER LIKE NO OTHER. This book traces the attempted romance of the Valkyrie, Kaderin the Cold Hearted, and the newly turned vampire, Sebastian Wroth, brother to Nikolai Wroth....A romance but filled with paranormal lore and suspense... Great new author and a great new series!

I loved this book, way better than the first one. As a matter of fact, I couldn't get through the first one. But something made me pick up this one and I loved it. Then I was able to go back and finish the first one. Maybe the hero in the first book was a bit too aggressive and domineering for me, whereas Sebastian (in this book) was a bit more truthful with his feelings, knew he loved and was meant to be with the heroine and wasn't afraid to show it or let her know. He was also very sensitive to her and I can't resist that in a hero! I am intrigued enough with the paranormal world that Ms. Cole has created with this series to keep reading, hoping I'll find another hero like Sebastian!

Turned against his will, Sebastian sought death until it came for him in the form of the petite Valkyrie, Kaderin. Finding his one true Bride, Sebastian refuses to let her out of his sight even if it means competing in an ancient game to help her regain her dead sisters. An interesting storyline that segues nicely into the next book in the series on Bowen and Mari.

Another great book. Although I seem to be seeing a trend in Cole's heroines. They are raging feminist. Don't get me wrong, I think it's good that women have their own careers, ect. But the attitude of the heroine is very bothersome at times because they are so headstrong. I don't think she will ever create a heroine that would sacrifice for the hero. It's always the heroines way or the highway. However, I can over look this and still enjoy Cole's books.

I've read the IAD series out of order so this second chronological book is perhaps my fifth book of the series. I didn't like Kaderin, the Valkryie heroine of No Rest For The Wicked, that much. She's crude and downright abusive to the hero. He was likable, but weak and meek compared to the heroine. He's a vampire who hates being made a vampire by his older brother. The chemistry between the hero and heroine was lacking. Is this better than other paranormal romance books? Yes. Is this as good as A Hunger Like No Other or Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night also by the same author? No. The best parts of this book are scenes with Nucking Futs Nix. She's hilarious. I can't wait for her book.

Re-reading...
Another Valkyrie [Kaderin the Cold Hearted] meets up with another Wroth brother [Nikolai Wroth and Myst the Coveted were the h/h in The Warlord Wants Forever]. Sebastian recognizes Kaderin as his fate; now...if fate would only be so kind as to cooperate. The author has come up with a great action format - a world wide competition to acquire certain objects under the auspices of a goddess. Kaderin is competing because she has for the last 500 years [and won them all] and because the prize will allow her to go back in time and save her family. Sebastian only wants to help her but ends up competing for the goddess herself.

Great read - lots of action - some of it between the sheets. Fair warning - there's enough mythological terminology that the author included a glossary in the back.

Another series where order is very important...

Immortals After Dark
1. "The Warlord Wants Forever" (2006) (in Playing Easy to Get)
2. A Hunger Like No Other (2006)
3. No Rest for the Wicked (2006)
4. Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (2007)
5. Dark Needs at Night's Edge (2008)
6. Dark Desires After Dusk (2008)
7. Kiss of a Demon King (2009)
8. "Untouchable" in DEEP KISS OF WINTER October 2009
9. Pleasure of a Dark Prince (02/10)

An okay romance plot between a Valkyrie and a vampire. Not much original here, and the characters were fairly flat, but it was a bit better-writen than many in this genre. Not a bad bit of light reading, with steamy sex.

Sebastian's and Kaderin's story was a great read. Nice to see the heroine kick some major butt throughout the story, and to see her change was a fun ride. Loved that Sebastian wasn't a typical alpha male, he is most definately a Wroth brother when it comes to fighting, but in other areas he isn't and kinda has a more "geeky" quality to him(don't want to give too much away). Besides after reading about their first encounter how can you not feel for him?

thought out and bring in humor throughout the book .The passion and sex is sizzling. The story is fabulous.

Couldnt put it down. This series is incredible. Kaderin the cold hearted vampire killer becomes a vamp bride. The excitement in this book is nail biting and unbelievably hot and sexy. Jumping into the next book right away which overlaps slightly with the HIE!

This is my new favorite series and my new favorite author. I could not put this book down all night. I loved the romance between Sebastian and Kaderin. I liked how Cole wrote his back story - a man who was too large and awkward as a young man in a different time, who finds his sexual awakening hundreds of years later. Sounds cheesy when I write it but it really worked in the story. Good steamy love scenes and a slow build up to the romance. Plenty of fun too and not overly simplistic. A keeper. Sorry swappers!

Even though this is the second book, it's really the third story if you count Myst and Nik. Definitely read their story and the first book, after that it doesn't really matter which order since they pretty much all happen at the same time.

This was a fun book but was a little slow to start. I don't think Cole mentions why Kaderin felt so guilty for her sisters' deaths until the end, but I knew about it from the other books. I think it's less frustrating knowing why. I liked both characters. I thought Sebastian was quite sweet and enduring since he is so innocent (nice to have the man be inexperienced once in a while in these stories).

The snappy dialogue between Kaderin and Sebastian doesn't happen until more than halfway through the book. Nix is still incredible and continue to be my favorite character.

I do have to admit it wasn't as good or well written as the other ones but I still enjoyed it.

First off, these books should be read in order, I read book one then book three and now book two... I LOVED them all but I would of enjoyed book three much more had I read the second book first, it made more sence to me while I was reading book two...

Okay, I Loved this book, was thrilled cause I've hit some duds lately.. Kaderin and Sebastian are right up there for me along with Vane and Bride and Rhage and Mary, they arn't at the top, but they are up there!!!

This is the second in the series and not my favorite. Kaderin and Sebastin didn't feel right together. What saves this book this is we get a better peak into Bowen's character (third book). To me this wasn't a keeper but please keep reading the series the stories and characters get better and better. I'm on the 6th in the series. The 1st book was fabulous also.

I liked the first one better, but this one is still a good read. It just focused more on the conflicts then the romance. The heroine is so stubborn that it gets tiring after a while, then suddenly she is so agreeable at the conclusion of the story. All the conflicts had too convenient fixes in the end to wrap up the story.

Kaderin's only purpose in life it to kill vampires and win the Hie (a twisted version of the amazing race) until she finds herself stuck with a vampire claiming shes his bride. She wants to run and continue on her mission to win the hie, and in turn win her sister's lives, but at the same time she can't resist him.

Not so much as steaming pages, but rather boiling water hot. Which is still pretty dang hot. This book has everything you could want, dirty fighting, sex, werewolves, vampires, Valkyrie, and anything else you can imagine. The writing is fast paced and you will soon find yourself sucked into the action, of which there is plenty of. I am not sure how I felt about the end because I really wish that Bowen could have done something...but hey, his book is next so I am sure we will see why. Great read. Loved it.

I didn't like this one. The first book in the series "A Hunger Like no Other" was very good but this second one was kind of boring and repetitive. A few sexy scenes couldn't make up for the weird and convoluted storyline. I didn't finished it....i really couldn't care less.

This is another great addition to the IAD series! I love the strong female characters- a very refreshing change from some of the TSTL heroines out there. Kresley Cole does an incredible job of creating some serious heat and tension between her main characters! You can't help but like them. I love how different these stories are from the "same old vampire stories" that some of the other "me too" authors are writing. I will definitely be reading more of these.

No Rest for the Wicked eARC provided 4 stars
Cobain, Dane
No Rest for the Wicked tells a story of good versus evil, in a uniquely different way. The story is great; suspenseful action mixed with love, family, friendship, and mystery. I loved how the story came together in the end; allowing readers to experience unconditional love through the ultimate sacrifice.
The story has an unusual, and hard to follow layout; I had to jump back chapters to double-check the dates throughout my reading. I like how the chapters told everyone's story from in different times throughout their lives; however, it would have been a much smoother read if it was written in a past to present order.
The story was one of my preferred genres; I love the supernatural aspect, and the idea is extremely original. Cobain is a very talented writer, and his talent for imagery is quite obvious throughout the chapters. Unfortunately, the order of the chapters took a lot away from that; starting with the present day worked, but the back in forth for the rest of chapters in the book was a major negative for me.
After drawing readers' interest with the first chapter, written in present day; taking the rest in order would have made for a perfectly smooth and easy read. Despite the layout, Cobain's brilliant writing and unique story deserves 4 Boundless Stars for No Rest for the Wicked. I look forward to seeing more from Cobain.

The plot was a very thin frame from which to hang many explicit sex scenes. No character development to speak of, either. I have no problem with sex scenes, but I want a little story and some characters to care about as well. A dissapointment.

A soldier weary of life . . .
Centuries ago, Sebastian Wroth was turned into a vampire -- a nightmare in his mind -- against his will. Burdened with hatred and alone for ages, he sees little reason to live. Until an exquisite, fey creature comes to kill him, inadvertently saving him instead.

A Valkyrie assassin dispatched to destroy him . . .

When Kaderin the Cold Hearted lost her two beloved sisters to a vampire attack long ago, a benevolent force deadened her sorrow -- accidentally extinguishing all of her emotions. Yet whenever she encounters Sebastian, her feelings -- particularly lust -- emerge multiplied. For the first time, she's unable to complete a kill.

Become competitors in a legendary hunt.

The prize of the month-long contest is powerful enough to change history, and Kaderin will do anything to win it for her sisters. Wanting only to win her, forever, Sebastian competes as well, taking every opportunity -- as they travel to ancient tombs and through catacombs, seeking relics around the world -- to use her new feelings to seduce her. But when forced to choose between the vampire she's falling for and reuniting her family, how can Kaderin live without either?
