From Publishers Weekly: "Mystery fans who dote on their pets will welcome this second tale of murder co-authored by Brown and her cat, Sneaky Pie. A follow-up to the duo's Wish You Were Here, it reintroduces characters and settings in the tiny town of Crozet, Va. Central to the tale are postmistress and knowledgeable farmhand Mary Minor Haristeen (Harry), her cat Mrs. Murphy and her Welsh corgi Tee Tucker. Mrs. Murphy, as it happens, "bears an uncanny resemblance to authoress Sneaky Pie," and virtually every reference to her is amusingly flattering. Other key Crozet denizens include the nosy, well-meaning widow Mrs. Hoggendobber; the haughty, monied Sanburne family; Harry's ex-husband and his new love interest, a woman nicknamed "Boom Boom." Gossip is at a low ebb in Crozet until male model Blair Bainbridge moves to the farm bordering Harry's. Matchmakers start to buzz, but they are rudely interrupted when assorted parts of a dismembered body are found on Blair's land. The animals, whose speech is italicized in the text and generally misunderstood by humans, form their own hypotheses about the murder, and naturally have a hand/paw in solving the crime. The Browns expertly depict small-town life, detailing holiday parties, a fox hunt and Harry's chores during a bucolic winter. Although talking, sleuthing animals may seem cloying to serious folk, this is in actuality a spooky, baffling tale complete with (Rita Mae) Brown's trademark surprise ending." Very good 2nd of the series. Enjoyed getting to know the characters better. They and the animals really get into your heart and grow each time. The animal conversation is great, good humor. Glad the series has plenty to continue.
Another Sneaky Pie Brown Mystery.
the book was great as with all of Mrs Murphy books. I can't wait to get the cookbook to the set
This is a real nail biter!
Loved the cat, Mrs. Murphy. She's a bright kitty who leads her human, Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen on a search for clues to a murder in cozy Crozet, Virginia.
This is the second book in this series. I'm reading the 7th one now, and I've enjoyed all of them. The characters are great, and the mysteries are always intriguing. The most fun part is that the cat helps tell the story. Usually, the pets know the murderer before the humans do.
Small towns don't take kindly to strangers -- unless the stranger happens to be a drop-dead gorgeous and seemingly unattached male. When Blair Bainbridge comes to Crozet, Virginia, the local matchmakers lose no time in declaring him perfect for their newly divorced postmistress, Mary Minor "harry" Harry" Haristeen. Could his one little imperfection be that hes a killer?
Another great Mrs. Murphy mystery! #2
Small towns don't take kindly to strangers -- unless the stranger hapens to be a drop-dead gorgeous and seemingly unattached male. When Blair Bainbridge comes to Crozet, Virginia, the local matchmakers lose no time in declaring him perfect for their newly divorced postmistress, Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen. Even Harry's tiger cat, Mrs. Murphy and her Welsh Corgi, Tee Tucker, believe he smells A-okay. Could his one little imperfection be that he's a killer? Blair becomes the most likely suspect when he pieces of a dismembered corpse begin turning up around Crozet. No one knows who the dead man is, but when a grisly clue makes a spectacular appearance in the middle of the fall festivities, more than an early winter snow begins chilling the blood of Crozet's very best people. That's when Mrs. Murphy, her friend Tucker, and her human companion Harry begin to sort throught the clues...only to find themselves a whisker away from becoming the killer's next victims.
One of the books that Rita Mae writes with her cat, Sneaky Pie Brown. As usual, the animals solve the murder before the humans do. I LOVE her books!
Introducing a new -- and drop-dead-gorgeous neighbor for Harry, Mrs. Murphy and Tee Tucker.
cats and dogs that can really speak volumes.Murder and secrets, and romance.
Very wonderful series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A light read, mystery, located in small town Crozet, VA. Mary Minor Harristeen (Harry) and her pets solve a murder.
When male model, Blair Bainbridge buys the farm next to Harry's, he turns heads with his handsome looks. Being the new "kid" in a small town has its disadvantages, though.
When a dismembered corpse is discovered on Blair's farm, he becomes the primary suspect. As more pieces of the corpse begin appearing, some in fantastic and shocking locations, the push is on to find the murderer before more residents fall.
Mrs. Murphy and Tucker work with the storekeeper's cat to help learn all they can to protect Harry from becoming the next victim.
The second in the series is another well-written book that continues to expand on the characters from the first and introduces more. Now Simon makes an appearance, a possum living in the barn's loft with a fondness for marsh mellows and syrup poured in fresh snow.
Will the animals be able to keep Harry safe? Another book worth a read.

Set in the middle of fall festivities, pieces of a body are found scattered around town. Great entry in a great series.
I really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing until I was almost finished with it.
