I'll admit that I am more than half-way through listening to this audiobook and I am underwhelmed so far. I expected much more than another "bodice-ripper" from Russell Banks. The men are stereotypically devious and "manly" and women must be manipulative and use their sexuality to thwart being victimized by these nefarious and cunning creatures. In addition, having grown up in New York's Adirondack region, even if I lower my expectations for even somewhat of an accurate portrayal of the area, its use as a backdrop demonstrates Banks' shallow and inaccurate perceptions. Sorry, but not worth my time and I will probably kill this turkey off early and go on to much more interesting fare.
