I was very interested in reading this as I'm a big fan of the Aronofsky movie, which was magnificent and terribly harrowing. The novel was equally dark. It's written in a free-form be-bop narrative, and once you get into it, it takes you for a ride. The book deals much more with the daily existence of a junkie, whereas the movie expounds on the more pivotal moments. But the film got it just right, somehow managing to convey the same breakneck speed and despair of the novel. Read the book. See the movie.

this is quite possibly one of my most favorite books I've read. It's written in such a way that I actually felt like I was inside the characters heads, feeling what they were feeling> It can get a bit confusing at times, but I couldnt put it down.
