This is an AMAZING story, heartbreaking and uplifting all in one. A true testament to the power of the human spirit and love, in the most wretched of circumstances. Apologies to those on the Wish List; this book has a permanent place on my keeper shelf. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Rena and Danka Kornreich, Polish Jewish teenagers, were sent to Auschwitz at the beginning of the Holocaust (Rena was on the very first transport). This is the story of their survival, against all odds and after many brushes with death, until the camp was finally liberated in May, 1945. A very moving account of two remarkable women.
